Four Ways To Save Money

Saving money doesn't have to be difficult. Once you get into the habit of watching where your money goes, it will become second nature. Getting started is half the battle. For those of you just starting out, here are five ways you can start saving money today. 1. Call all of your utility and credit card companies. If you have been a good paying customer, ask for a better rate. Find out exactly what you're paying for and then decide if you still need those services. Doing this even once a year can save you a considerable amount of money. 2. Pack your lunch and take drinks and snacks with you when you leave the house. If you are not going to be home for lunch (or dinner), pack it and take it with you. Invest in a small soft cooler and an ice pack and start making your meals to go. If you're going to be out for a few hours, take a few snacks and drinks with you so you don't have to stop at the store and buy them. If you purchase snacks and drinks ahead of time (when they're on sale) and stock up, you'll never have to pay full price when you're out. 3. Back off on paper and plastic products. Instead of using paper napkins, buy a few cloth ones at a local thrift store. Instead of buying rolls of paper towels, have a few rags on hand for spills. Stop buying plastic cups, forks and plates and use regular dishes, cups and forks and you'll see the savings add up. 4. Shop the loss leaders at your local supermarket. Loss leaders are the items the store puts on deep discount. You can usually find them on the front page of the weekly flyer. If it's an items you use, buy it. If it's an item you use and can be stored, buy several and stock up. This is great to do with shampoo, deodorant or toothpaste. Just doing these four things can save you a considerable amount of money. |
